SUMMARY:R1 – Open Day at Coldwell Horseshoe Reserves
DESCRIPTION:Our reserves team will be providing guided tours of our three reserves at Coldwell at 11:00am and at 2:00pm.  Each tour will last approximately an hour and you are welcome to just turn up and join either walk during the day.  This is an ideal opportunity to learn more about how our reserves are managed and what plans we have for their future\, and to have any questions you may have about our reserves answered.  Alternatively\, you are welcome simply to explore the reserves and discover their many wonders for yourself. \n\n\n\nThere is no need to book for this event – just turn up! \nParking will be sign-posted at the reserve. Both tours start from the entrance to Coldwell Meadow – on the road to Silverdale\, at OS SD477775. \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:W3 -  Coastal Landscapes around Red Bank
DESCRIPTION:A Walk by Lucy Baird.\nThis “Coastal Landscapes around Red Bank” walk (W3) follows the coast from Red Bank Farm to Hest Bank Foreshore. This will allow you to explore landscape features including drumlins\, glacial till and erratic rocks\, saltmarsh morphology\, coastal erosion and industrial archaeology. The walk is being led by Lucy Baird who trained in Physical Geography at Aberystwyth University and now works as a National Trust guide at Wray Castle in the Lake District. She lives in Hest Bank and has a special interest in the coastal and glacial geomorphology of the north Lancashire coast between Hest Bank and Warton.\n\nThe walk is about 2 miles long with very small and gentle ascents. We will be walking over saltmarsh which can be uneven with pools and channels to cross. The event should finish by 4.30pm.  Well behaved dogs on leads may attend.\n\nAs the number of participants is limited to 20\, booking is essential. SUMMARY:W2 - Beetham Geotrail (North)
DESCRIPTION:A Walk by Duncan Woodcock.\nThis Beetham Geotrail (North) walk (W2) is being given by Duncan Woodcock\, a lifelong Earth Science student\, who has led a number of successful walks for the Trust. The circular walk is 3-4 miles in length\, and will visit Fairy Steps\, the 1821 enclosure wall\, Dallam Park and Heron Corn Mill before returning to Beetham village. This will allow you to explore landscape features including Urswick limestone scars\, Woodbine Shale\, various erratics\, drumlins\, dolines and ponds. There will be some gentle inclines and some paths are uneven and may be slippery. The event should finish by 12.30pm. \nThe event is suitable for anyone interested in finding out more about the geological and historical landscape in the area.  Well behaved dogs on leads may attend. \nAs the number of participants is limited to 20\, booking is essential.
