Arnside and Silverdale AONB Landscape Trust Events
EP2 – Grubbins Wood
Saturday 14th September at 2:00 pm
A walk by Jamie Normington of Cumbria Wildlife Trust
Hidden corners and little known gems abound within the Arnside and Silverdale AONB, and help to make it such an Extraordinary Place to live and to visit.
One of the area’s most easily overlooked gems is Grubbins Wood Nature Reserve, a lovely ancient woodland and meadow reserve owned by the Cumbria Wildlife Trust. The reserve is tucked away at the side of the Kent estuary at New Barns Bay, where it is undoubtedly passed by many every day but probably only ever visited by a few. The reserve is home to a variety of plants and insects that are rare in Cumbria, such as small-leaved lime, Lancastrian whitebeam and red wood ants.
Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s Education and Community Officer, Jamie Normington, will lead this walk through Grubbins Wood, Sands Field and Pickles Meadow.
If you will be travelling to this event by car and are able to offer a lift to someone without transport, or alternatively would appreciate a lift to the event, please let us know when booking.
