Weekend Event: An Extraordinary Place
Saturday 14th September - Sunday 15th September
Developing the theme of Our AONB – An Extraordinary Place, the Landscape Trust has invited local conservation and heritage organisations to join us in a weekend of events, showcasing the work that goes into protecting, improving and enhancing the AONB for the benefit of all.
A joint exhibition will be held throughout the weekend in the Arnside Educational Institute, from 10am to 5pm each day, with refreshments available throughout the weekend from Wagtail Catering. Saturday morning will also feature talks from 10:30am by Lucy Barron (AONB Partnership), Craig McCoy (National Trust) and Glen Swainson (Natural England).
In addition, there will be a number of walks held throughout the weekend to tie into this event:
Friday 13 September (2pm)
- EP6: Mawson’s Garden (Brian Smith, owner)
Saturday 14 September (all walks start at 2pm)
- EP1: Gait Barrows and Hawes Water (Glen Swainson, Natural England)
- EP2: Grubbins Wood (Jamie Normington, Cumbria Wildlife Trust)
- EP3: Arnside Knott (Craig McCoy, National Trust)
- EP4: Swift Sites of Arnside (Peter Moreton, Swifts in the Community)
Sunday 15 September
- EP7: Kent Estuary Natural History (Lynne Farrell, naturalist) [NB: 10am start]
- EP5: Mawson’s Garden (Brian Smith, owner) [2pm]
To book on any of these walks, please email email@example.com, giving the name and contact details of each person wishing to attend, together with whether or not they are a member of the Landscape Trust.
Additional booking information
If you prefer to book via email, or wish to book on more than one walk without completing multiple booking forms, you can write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org, giving the walk code and title of each walk you wish to attend, together with the name of each person attending, their email address and contact telephone number, and stating whether or not they are Landscape Trust members. Your request will be dealt with as quickly as possible but please be aware that orders entered via the online system (where available) may be processed ahead of your request. In cases when there are only two or three places left you will always stand the best chance of securing the places you want by using the online booking option, if this is offered.
For our bookable events, the precise start location and details will normally only be released to those with confirmed bookings. This information will be sent by email either with the booking confirmation, or communicated to you by telephone if you have not provided an email contact address.
Please read our Health & Safety Policy before taking part in an event.
