  • W7 – Recording the Visual Landscape (A Personal Sketchbook)

    This is a walk with a difference in that participants will each be invited to create a personal sketchbook of the walk, exploring the area around Far Arnside, examining and recording geological features and landscapes from modern to medieval. No artistic skills are required!

  • W8 – Managing for Butterflies on Arnside Knott

    Chris Winnick will lead a walk over Arnside Knott looking at the butterflies and how the area is managed for priority species, such as the High Brown Fritillary, which hopefully will be in flight on the day.

  • Annual General Meeting 2019

    Heron Theatre Stanley Street, Beetham, Cumbria, United Kingdom

    After a (hopefully) short meeting to conduct the business of the 2019 AGM, Mike Warren will give a presentation on "Back to Basics – a re-introduction to the delights of the AONB".

  • W9 – Fell End Nature Reserve

    Join us on a visit to the AONB's newest reserve at Fell End Caravan Park, to look at butterflies and other wildlife, and to learn about the management and development of the reserve.

  • W6 – The Secrets of Silverdale (RESCHEDULED)

    A walk by Ann Turnbull across the sands from Silverdale to Gibralter Farm, hearing history of the seaward part of the village. This will be followed by an exploration of the southern area of Silverdale.

  • EP6 – Mawson’s Garden

    Brian Smith has very generously squeezed in another visit to the garden at Mawson's for Landscape Trust members to see for themselves the restoration of this wonderful example of Arts and Crafts movement heritage.

  • Weekend Event: An Extraordinary Place

    A weekend of walks, talks and displays of activities by some of the partnership organisations who help to make the Arnside and Silverdale AONB such an Extraordinary Place. The weekend aims to showcase the work that goes into protecting, improving and enhancing the AONB for the benefit of all.

  • EP2 – Grubbins Wood

    A walk through Pickles Meadow, Grubbins Wood and Sands Field, led by Jamie Normington of Cumbria Wildlife Trust, looking at the rare plants and insects that make this reserve special.

  • EP1 – Gait Barrows and Hawes Water

    The manager of the Gait Barrows NNR, Glen Swainson, will lead this walk around Gait Barrows and the neighbouring Haweswater, explaining the reserve's history, its special qualities and features, Natural England's current policies and plans for the conservation of its rare species of flora and fauna, as well as showing off some of its hidden corners.

  • EP3 – Arnside Knott

    A walk led by Craig McCoy of the National Trust, ascending Arnside Knott.

  • EP4 – Swift Sites of Arnside

    Peter Moreton of Swifts in the Community will lead a walk around Arnside showing participants where swifts can seen to best advantage when they are around in the summer, and explain what can be done to try to reverse the current decline in swift populations.

  • EP5 – Mawson’s Garden

    Another chance for Landscape trust members to visit the extraordinary Mawson’s garden and see for themselves the restoration of this wonderful example of Arts and Crafts movement heritage.

  • 21-01 Swifts in Arnside

    Peter Moreton of Swifts in the Community will lead a walk around Arnside showing participants where swifts can seen to best advantage in Arnside, and explain what we might do to try to reverse the current decline in their populations.

If you prefer to book via email, please contact us at bookings@landscapetrust.org.uk.  Your request will be dealt with as quickly as possible but please be aware that orders entered via the online system (where available) may be processed ahead of your request.  In cases when there are only two or three places left you will always stand the best chance of securing the places you want by using the online booking option, if this is offered.

For our bookable events, the precise start location and details  will normally only be released to those with confirmed bookings.   This information will be sent by email either with the booking confirmation, or communicated to you by telephone if you have not provided an email contact address.
