A weekend of walks, talks and displays of activities by some of the partnership organisations who help to make the Arnside and Silverdale AONB such an Extraordinary Place. The weekend aims to showcase the work that goes into protecting, improving and enhancing the AONB for the benefit of all.

The manager of the Gait Barrows NNR, Glen Swainson, will lead this walk around Gait Barrows and the neighbouring Haweswater, explaining the reserve's history, its special qualities and features, Natural England's current policies and plans for the conservation of its rare species of flora and fauna, as well as showing off some of its hidden corners.
A walk through Pickles Meadow, Grubbins Wood and Sands Field, led by Jamie Normington of Cumbria Wildlife Trust, looking at the rare plants and insects that make this reserve special.

Peter Moreton of Swifts in the Community will lead a walk around Arnside showing participants where swifts can seen to best advantage when they are around in the summer, and explain what can be done to try to reverse the current decline in swift populations. |
